Giclee (pronounced zee-CLAY) utilizes inkjet technology, but far more advanced than a standard deskjet. Among other advantages, giclee employs an ulta-wide color gamut using 11 (or more) specified inks. Originally developed as a proofing system for the traditional lithograph, the superior quality and brilliance of the giclee was soon realized. Also, giclees are produced digitally, saving generations of the detail-robbing experienced with older methods such as negatives and plates. This is why giclee, dye sublimation and similar processes have become the gold standard of photographic production in the 21st century, and are employed by the majority of today’s reputible photograpic and printhouse developers. How do I know your image description is accurate? We strive to make our photo descriptions as accurate as possible.
