Stephen B. Gersh received an Master of Arts in Creative Photography from Goddard College, Plainfield, Vermont, in 1976. He also studied at Syracuse University, New York (1959-1962). He previously was director of the New England School of Photography in Boston (1972-1975) and taught photography at M.I.T., Cambridge (1966-1967).

Helen Levitt ORIGINAL Gelatin Silver Print SIGNED $8500 Value

Very rare early work. Original untitled silver gelatin photograph “Kids in a Wagon with Horse on the street” signed en verso by Helen Levitt and accompanied by original gallery receipt from G Gibson gallery in Seattle. Circa 1930’s printed later. Purchased from G Gibson gallery in Seattle in March 1999 for $2,500 (~$4,500 adjusted for inflation) along with another photography by Levitt of same size/period and different subject as listed on the receipt. The photo was originally accompanied by a letter from G Gibson gallery appraising the value at $4,000 in April 2000 (~$7,200 adjusted for inflation) , but the appraisal letter got switched with the letter for the other similar Levitt photograph at some point.
