Alison Frantz Phaistos Palace Archeological Greece Photograph – Ex Smith College

Alison Frantz (United States, 1903-1995) was an American archaeological photographer and Byzantine scholar, best known for her extensive documentation of the excavations at the Athenian Agora. Her meticulous and historically focused photography was highly influential in the academic and popular understanding of ancient Greece. Her photographs in the hand of the public are very rare, you will be lucky if you find any evidence that one was sold with results on the internet. This photograph is an original silver gelatin print mounted to a piece of Masonite. It is entitled XXIII. Phaistos, Palace, West Court.
