New York, circa 1945 is typical of Levitt’s signature works of the mid 1930s through the 1950s. By the 1960’s she was also recognized as a pioneer of color photography. Levitt’s work is included in most all important public collections of photography.

Helen Levitt ORIGINAL Gelatin Silver Print SIGNED $8500 Value
Very rare early work. Original untitled silver gelatin photograph “Kids in a Wagon with Horse on the street” signed en verso by Helen Levitt and accompanied by original gallery receipt from G Gibson gallery in Seattle. Circa 1930’s printed later. Purchased from G Gibson gallery in Seattle in March 1999 for $2,500 (~$4,500 adjusted for inflation) along with another photography by Levitt of same size/period and different subject as listed on the receipt. The photo was originally accompanied by a letter from G Gibson gallery appraising the value at $4,000 in April 2000 (~$7,200 adjusted for inflation) , but the appraisal letter got switched with the letter for the other similar Levitt photograph at some point.
