Standley (Harry Landis Standley, 1881-1951) (Early 20th Century, Colorado Springs COLORADO) (Hand Tinted, Hand Colored Photographer). Fine large example by Standley. Signed and titled. Original antique framing, sealed verso and has not been examined outside of frame. Signed lower right, “Standley”. Collectible early American photographer – would appeal to handtinted photography collections similar to listed artists Ansel Adams, Wallace Nutting, David Davidson (1881-1967), Charles Sawyer (1868-1954) and Fred Thompson (1844-1909). “H. L. Standley known photos include: Garden of the Gods, Hagerman Peak, and Pikes Peak. Harry Landis Standley was born July 28, 1881 in Arkansas City, Kansas. Moved with his family to Colorado, and by 1893 the young Standley was taking photographs of Cripple Creek, his new hometown. By 1904, Standley had moved to Colorado Springs where he soon opened a photo studio. Standley loved the Rocky Mountains, and for nearly fifty years his camera captured the features, people, and events of Colorado and the greater Pikes Peak region. Harry Standley died in Colorado Springs in March 1951.” SIZE: aprox. 18.25×20.75 framed, aprox. visible image of photo from front view 12.5×14.5 inches including signature/titles MEDIUM: antique photograph, signed CONDITION: A couple age spots mainly near signature area and some toning common with antique paper can be seen due to age (see photos) – sealed antique untouched condition. Photo is bright and well kept overall good visible condition, sealed verso and has not been removed from or examined outside of frame. Antique frame is original and has some wear to edges from age.
