I was getting ready for the day when I was visited by this White Winged Dove. She let me get two shots of her before taking off. What a surprise!

As the sun was setting, a mass of large birds appeared outside a cove in Costa Rica. As the sun grew lower and lower, they began to descend upon a series of rocks to rest. This is a picture of the nightly gathering.

American Avocet on the hunt

On a cloudy day in April, several American Avocets landed in a reservoir to hunt for the afternoon. I waited a couple hours for one to get close enough to photograph, and finally this guy walked over towards me all by himself.

I was hiking along a river, hoping to photograph toucans when I saw a movement up in the trees. Just by happenstance I had stumbled across a Northern Tamandua Anteater looking for grub. She eventually found a large ant colony, but only ate a portion before sliding down the tree on her belly.

ORIGINAL RARE 1975 ‘HARPY EAGLE MOTHER & BABY FLEDGLING’ IN NEST NEIL RETTIG PHOTOGRAPH This is a great piece. When I found this photograph in the back of an antique shop, I was very excited. This is one of those things you would never in a million years expect to find. Photograph is signed by Alan Degen, Wolfgang Salb, and Neil Rettig in pen below the image on the mount. The 3 gentlemen began in the early 1970s documenting the Harpy Eagles in Panama as well as other Birds of Prey around the globe. Rettig has gone on to be one of the most prominent Nature Cinematographers in the world with his photographs an footage being used by National Geographic and many other documentaries. He has won 6 Emmys for his work.This is a wonderful scarce original Gelatin Silver photograph of the Harpy Eagle mother and her eaglet in the nest. Large photograph measuring 13 1/2 x 9 inches on original mount measuring 20 x 16 inches. Photograph is good and clear with just some faint spotting in the very top on the surface. Otherwise outstanding. Backstamp on the back of the mount has the 3 men’s name as well as being dated 1975. A very scarce original photograph.
